Etios, Toyota?s New Hybrid Small Car
Etios, Toyota?s new hybrid small car is going to be released for Indian Market around late 2010 and the beginning of 2011. Etios will be produced locally in India and will be exported for international market. The philosophy for Etios is ?World first, India first?, which means that Toyota want to introduce the new car to Indian market before its world debut. The company has conducted a survey on Indian customers, and they built Etios according to the result to satisfy Indian customers.
The new Etios will be offered in two varians, hatchback and notchback, with two types of petrol engines, 1.2-liter and 1.5-liter. Both engines have been specially designed for the road conditions in India, with high mileage as the key factor. Considering the market demand for diesel variant, Toyota already gave a hint that a diesel variant could be folowed later.
Etios will be produced by ?Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private, Ltd? at its second plant, which is built specially for the car?s production. Toyota expects the annual sales of Etios in India to reach 70.000 units in the first year. The company also planned to export Etios to Russia and South America, and to satisfy the market demands in South America, a production plan in Brazil has been conducted.
